With the opening of Studio Ghibli Park just over a year away, construction on its much-anticipated My Neighbour Totoro area is now officially underway.

Based on the new visual, we’ll be getting a life-sized Catbus and the giant Totoro tree. A replica of Mei and Satsuki’s house is also included. Other attractions include the airship from Castle in the Sky, a brick-laid restaurant on the shore and a replica of the witch’s home in Earwig and the Witch. The park will also showcase a real-life Howl’s Moving Castle.

Ghibli theme park is situated in a 200-hectare area of Aichi prefecture’s Nagakute. The Giant Ghibli Warehouse, Hill of Youth and Dondoko Forest areas are set to open in Fall 2022. The Mononoke Village, inspired by Princess Mononoke, and Witch Valley, inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service, will open about one year later.

Also managed by Studio Ghibli is the Ghibli Museum, located in Mitaka. Closed for the majority of the pandemic but it recently reopened its doors. It is popular tourist destination for fans of the renowned animation studio.
