Klee is Genshin Impact’s resident troublemaker explosive expert. She’s a young girl, who’s curious about everything of the outside world. She often gets sent into timeout by acting grandmaster Jean, for blowing things up unfortunately. She is one of the strongest playable characters right now in the game. In this guide, you’ll soon learn how to master this adorable 5 star Pyro character, along with her best builds, role, team compositions, artifact sets and much more.
Basic Info-

Rarity– 5 star

Ascension Materials-
All the materials needed to reach max ascension level for Klee are listed down below. These can be obtained by defeating Pyro Regisvine and Samachurls. Philanemo Mushroom can be found under the eaves of houses in Mondstadt and Springvale and the houses near Dawn Winery.

Talent Materials-
As for upgrading talents, Freedom books are needed. They are available every Monday, Thursday, and Sunday in the Domain of Forsaken Rift located between Springvale and Dragonspine in Mondstadt. Ring of Boreas can be obtained from the weekly boss Lupus Boreas, located in Wolvendom. The total number of materials needed to upgrade them to the max are listed below-

Attack Talents-
Klee can use her normal attacks to repeatedly activate the effect of her passive talents while also applying the Pyro status to enemies, and use charged attacks to suppress them. The easiest way to boost your damage is levelling up your talents, but it’s hard to farm for the materials as you get to higher levels. So a good idea is to plan which skill you should level up first- my recommendation for a main DPS Klee is to upgrade her normal attack first, then her elemental burst
Normal Attack: Kaboom!

Normal Attack–
Throws things that go boom when they hit things! Perform up to 3 explosive attacks, dealing AoE Pyro DMG.
Charged Attack–
Consumes 50 Stamina and deals AoE Pyro DMG to opponents after a short casting time.
Plunge Attack–
Gathering the power of Pyro, Klee plunges towards the ground from mid-air, damaging all opponents in her path. Deals AoE Pyro DMG upon impact with the ground.

Unlocks after ascension 1

Sparkling Burst
When Klee’s Charged Attack results in a critical hit, all party members gain 2 Elemental Energies.
Unlocks after ascension 4

Klee’s Constellation
Klee is already a good character with no constellation, that is even at C0, she deals quite a good amount of damage.

Chained Reactions
Attacks and Skills have a certain chance to summon sparks that bombard opponents, dealing damage equal to 120% of Sparks ‘n’ Splash’s damage.

Explosive Frags
Being hit by Jumpy Dumpty’s mines decreases opponents’ defense by 23% for 10 seconds.

Exquisite Compound
Increases the level of Jumpy Dumpty by 3. Maximum level is 15.

Sparkly Explosion
If Klee leaves the field during the duration of Sparks ‘n’ Splash, her departure triggers an explosion that deals 555% of her attack as AoE Pyro damage.

Nova Burst
Increases the level of Sparks ‘n’ Splash by 3. Maximum level is 15.

Blazing Delight
While under the effects of Sparks ‘n’ Splash, other members of the party will continuously regenerate Energy.
When Sparks ‘n’ Splash is used, all party members will gain a 10% Pyro damage bonus for 25 seconds.
Artifact Set–
Any character can benefit a lot with the right artifact set bonus. For Klee, you should equip her with artifacts that boost Pyro damage and its effect. Keep in mind that her kit is focused more on her charged attack as the damage scaling is very high.
Recommended set-

2-piece Set Effect:
– Pyro Damage Bonus + 15%
4-piece Set Effects:
– Overloaded and Burning Damage + 40%
– Vaporize and Melt DMG + 15%.
– Using an Elemental Skill increases 2-Piece Set effects by 50% for 10 seconds.
– Max 3 stacks.
Alternative set-

2-piece Crimson Witch of Flames Set Effect:
– Pyro Damage Bonus + 15%
2-piece Gladiator’s Finale Set Effect:
– Attack + 18%
Besides the set piece effect, when building artifacts, the main stat and sub-stats are important. The recommended main stats for each artifact piece for Klee DPS are as follows;
- Flower- HP (fixed)
- Plume- ATK (Fixed)
- Hourglass- ATK%
- Goblet- Pyro DMG Bonus%
- Circlet- Crit RATE/DMG whichever is lower accordingly
For sub-stats, like in the case with any main DPS character, you want to get as much Critical Rate and Critical Damage on your sub-stat. I would recommend putting priority over Critical Rate above anything else.

Weapon Choices–
5-star Weapon–
When it comes to weapon, think of it as your 6th artifact. Keeping this in mind, choose your weapon accordingly. That said, all the 5-star catalyst weapons are good for Klee.

(Best)
Stat Bonus: Up to 33.10% CRIT Rate
Weapon Effect: Increases Movement SPD by 10%. When in battle, gain an 6/8/10/12/14% Elemental DMG Bonus every 4s. Max 4 stacks. Lasts until the character falls or leaves combat.

(2nd Best)
Stat Bonus: Up to 33.10% ATK Bonus.
Weapon Effect: Increases Elemental DMG Bonus by 12/15/18/21/24%. Normal Attack hits have a 50% chance to earn the favor of the clouds which actively seek out nearby opponents to attack for 15s. dealing 160/200/240/280/320% ATK DMG. Can only occur once every 30s.

(3rd Best)
Stat Bonus: Up to 49.60% ATK Bonus.
Weapon Effect: Increases the Shield Strength by 20/25/30/35/40%. It increases ATK by 4/5/6/7/8% for 8 secs on hits. Attack bonus maxed at 5 stacks and each stacks can only trigger once every 0.3 seconds. While protected by a shield, the Attack increase effect is increased by 100%.
- Skyward Atlas has the highest base attack and has a better weapon effect than the Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds, but with it’s primary stat boosting the ATK%, it will have a diminishing effect once you have some good artifacts.
- Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds’ weapon effect is not as good as the other 5-star catalyst weapon, but it makes up for it with a high CRIT Rate stat. You can get a CRIT DMG main stat circlet for better stat distribution, which will be better in the late game.
- The Memory of Dust can outperform any other catalyst weapon if we’re only looking at the damage potential, but it requires a character that can generate a shield to get the best out of this weapon.

4-star Weapon–

Stat Bonus: Up to 27.60% Critical Rate
Weapon Effects: Normal Attack hits increase Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG by 20/25/30/35/40% for 6 seconds. Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst hits increase Normal Attack DMG by 20/25/30/35/40% for 6 seconds.

Stat Bonus: Up to 55.10% Critical Damage
When a character takes the field, they will gain one of these 3 effects randomly– Recitative: Increases Base Attack by 60/75/90/105/120%; Aria: Increases all Elemental DMG by 48/60/72/84/96%; Interlude: Elemental Mastery is increased by 240/300/360/420/480.

Stat Bonus: Up to 55.10% Critical Damage
Weapons Effects: After defeating an opponent, ATK is increased by 12/15/18/21/24% for 30s. This effect has a maximum of 3 stacks, and the duration of each stack is independent of the others.

Stat Bonus: Up to 55.10% Attack bonus.
Weapons Effects: Normal Attack hits on opponents increase Charged Attack Damage by 16% for 6 seconds. Charged Attack hits on opponents increase Attack by 8% for 6 seconds.
- Solar Pearl is arguably the best 4-star weapon for Klee as the CRIT rate stat is good once you get your end-game artifacts, plus the weapon effect will help boost many of Klee’s attack patterns.
- The Widsith is also great with insanely good CRIT DMG stat but the weapon effect is random, which makes it unreliable.
- Blackcliff Agate is a good alternative for The Widsith, if you want consistent DPS.
- Dodoco Tales is practically made for Klee as it enhances her most significant asset- the high damage scaling of her charged attack. The only downside of this weapon is the ATK% main stat.

Team Comp-
Building a team centered around Klee is not that hard. Her best team would be a team that enhances her pyro damage output, with melt or vaporize elemental reactions. There is no fixed team, below are some examples-
TEAM 1

Character | Role | Artifact Set | Constellation |
---|---|---|---|
Klee | Main DPS | 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames | Any |
Xingqiu | Burst DPS Support | 2-piece Heart of Depth 2-piece Noblesse Oblige | C6 (optional) |
Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support Battery | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | Atleast C1 (C5 optional) |
Zhongli | Shield Support Burst Support | 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith | Any |
This team is an overall good team comp for Klee. Xingqiu enables the Vaporize elemental reaction which will multiply Klee’s damage by 1.5 times. Bennett takes on the role of the healer, buffer and battery for Klee. He will also activate the Fervent Flames elemental resonance, which will increase the party’s attack by 25%. And with the 4-piece Noblesse Oblige, you can further increase Klee’s attack by 20% whenever Bennett uses his elemental burst. As Klee is a squishy hero, Zhongli is just filling the team as a shield bot, Beidou or Diona will do just fine as alternatives.

TEAM 2

Character | Role | Artifact Set | Constellation |
---|---|---|---|
Klee | Main DPS | 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames | Any |
Mona | Burst DPS Support Enabler | 2-piece Heart of Depth 2-piece Noblesse Oblige | Any (C3 optional) |
Venti/ Sucrose | Burst DPS/ Support | 4-piece Viridescent Venerer | Any, C1 for Sucrose |
Bennett | Heal Support Buff Support Battery | 4-piece Noblesse Oblige | Atleast C1 (C5 optional) |
For this team comp, it is imperative that Venti/Sucrose has the 4-piece set of the Viridescent Venerer set. When you’re triggering the Pyro Swirl reaction, it reduces the enemy’s pyro resistance by 40%. Mona is there to enable the Vaporize elemental reaction. Her elemental skill also taunts opponents into the Illusory Phantom, making it easier to group them up and unleash Klee’s elemental skill on them. Her elemental burst also does an insane amount of damage. Bennett still plays the role of battery, healer and buffer for this team. There’s simply no better alternative for him if you want to maximize Klee’s damage output.
Conclusion-
Klee is one of the strongest DPS characters in Genshin Impact right now. So, when you build her, try to get a good balance between CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG, while also boosting her Pyro damage as much as you can. One final tip for you- to maximize Klee’s charged attack, try to do 1 or 2 normal attacks before unleashing your charged attack, so that the effects of her Pounding Surprise passive talent is triggered as much as possible so you can deal 50% more damage while also conserving stamina.
